Phillip Simon Cowell (born October 7, 1959) is an English A & R executive, television producer, entrepreneur and celebrity. It is known in the United Kingdom and the United States for his role as a judge on TV talent shows like Pop Idol, X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and American Idol. It also owns television production and music publishing house Syco.

As a judge, Cowell is known for his candid and often controversial criticisms, insults and jokes about the participants and their capabilities. It is also known for combining activities in television and music industries have promoted singles and records for various artists, including television personalities. He was recently presented at the seventh series of The X Factor and the fifth round of the British Got Talent. In September 2011, it will function as a judge on the first season of the American version of The X Factor.

In 2010, built the British magazine New Statesman Cowell at number 41 on a list of "World 50 Most Influential People 2010."
