Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe (pronounced / mɒnroʊ / or / mənroʊ /, born Norma Jeane Mortenson, but baptized and raised as Norma Jeane Baker June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962 [1]) was an American actress, singer and model. After spending most of his childhood in foster care, Monroe began a career as a model, leading to a film contract in 1946. His appearances of the first films were less, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were well received. In 1953, Monroe had changed in the lead roles. Her "dumb blonde" persona was used to comic effect in films like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). Limited by the cast, Monroe attended the Actors Studio to extend its range and dramatic performance in Bus Stop (1956) was critically acclaimed and received a Golden Globe nomination.

His production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, published in the Prince and the Showgirl (1957), for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Award and won the David di Donatello. He received a Golden Globe for her performance in Some Like It Hot (1959).

The final years of Monroe's life was marked by illness, personal problems, and a reputation as unreliable and difficult to work. The circumstances of his death, an overdose of barbiturates, it is a matter of conjecture. Although officially classified as "probable suicide", the possibility of accidental overdose, as well as the possibility of murder, has not been excluded. In 1999, Monroe was ranked the sixth biggest star of all time by the American Film Institute. Years and decades after his death, Monroe is often cited as a pop icon and cultural, as well as a prominent American sex symbol.
