Zinedine Zidane (French pronunciation: [Zinedine Zidane]) (born June 23, 1972) is a former French footballer. It is widely recognized as one of the greatest players of all time. Zidane was the figurehead of a generation of French players who won the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championships. After a brief international retirement, he returned to the national team in 2005 and captain of France for the 2006 World Cup final, where he won the Golden Ball as MVP of the tournament.

Zidane at the club won the Liga and UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, two Serie A championships with Juventus League, one Intercontinental Cup and one UEFA Super Cup, each with two pages mentioned above. It is with Brazilian striker Ronaldo, the only three times FIFA World Player of the Year winner, he also won the Golden Ball in 1998. He retired from professional football after the World Cup in 2006.

He is currently the Director of Official Real Madrid Soccer, filling spot held previously by Jorge Valdano.
