Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born on 02 February 1977), known professionally as Shakira, (pronounced / ʃəkɪəɹə / in Spanish: [ʃakiɾa]) is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician, producer, dancer and philanthropist who has emerged in the music scene in Colombia and Latin America in the 1990s. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, Shakira has revealed many talents to the school as a live performer, demonstrating her vocal with rock and roll, Latin and Middle Eastern influences with his own twist belly dancing. Shakira is a native Spanish and fluent in English and Portuguese and some Italian, French and Arabic.

When the commercial flop with local producers in its first two albums, and is little known outside Colombia, Shakira decided to produce our own brand of music. In 1995 he published Pies Descalzos, which brought him a great reputation in Latin America and Spain, and his 1998 album, ¿Donde estan los Ladrones? was a critical success and sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In 2001, assisted by the worldwide success of his first single in English, "anytime, anywhere", which became a best-selling single of 2002, she made her breakthrough in English speaking countries, with the release of Laundry Service, which has sold over 13 million copies around the world. Four years later, Shakira released two albums and a project called Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2. Both of his success, particularly in the best-selling song in 2000 for "Hips do not lie."

In 1995, Shakira created the Pies Descalzos Foundation. It is a charity in Colombia with special schools for poor children in Colombia. During his career, Shakira has performed numerous concerts benefit. Among the most famous are the Live 8 benefit in July 2005, the Live Earth concert in Hamburg, where he performed in the show, and "Clinton Global Initiative", created by former U.S. President Bill Clinton. He was also invited to the White House by President Barack Obama in February 2010 to discuss the development of early childhood.

He won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, Latin Billboard Music Awards 12:00, and the Golden Globe nominated.She also the best-selling Colombian artist of all time, and the second most successful female Latin singer Gloria Estefan, later, has sold over 60 million albums worldwide according to Sony Music Entertainment. His album sales in the United States position 9600000.

In the fall of 2009, Shakira released her sixth album, She Wolf worldwide. Shakira "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," has been chosen the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Song received generally favorable critical reception, and has become a worldwide success and best-selling World Cup song of all time. YouTube, the English version of the music video is the third most watched videos of all time over 370 million views.Her seventh studio album, a bilingual Sale El Sol, was published in October 2010 and has sold 2 million copies around the world.

She was engaged to the son of former President of Argentina, Antonio de la Rua. Their relationship lasted almost 11 years and ended in August 2010. She is now dating Spanish football player Gerard Pique and confirmed their relationship in March 2011.
