Onika Tanya marja (born December 8, 1982), better known by his stage name Nicki Minaj (pronounced / mɪnɑ ː ʒ /) is a hip-hop and R & B musician who shot to fame after joined the rap group of young money. She was born in Saint-Jacques, Trinidad and Tobago, but moved to Queens Borough of New York as a child and graduated from LaGuardia High School in 2003.

Minaj began his musical career in 2007 after she released her first mixtape Playtime is over. Followed by the mixtapes mixtape, Sucka Free Beam Me Up Scotty and were published in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Minaj had the success of the first label after fellow rapper Lil Wayne was discovered and secured a recording contract with her, the distribution of Young Money Entertainment, Universal Motown in August 2009.
