Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, (Punjabi, Urdu: میاں محمد نواز شریف, born December 25, 1949) is a politician of Pakistan and electrical steel business, who served as Prime Minister of Pakistan on 12 outstanding warrants two consecutive November 1990-July 1993 and February 1997-October 1999. He currently serves as chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League (N-Wing). Before becoming the first Minsiter, Sharif was chief minister of Punjab from 1985 to 1990 and began his political career during the military regime of President General Zia-ul-Haq. A businessman and lawyer, has Ittefaq Group, a private steel mill.

He is a wealthy businessman and conservative politician. His first term was reduced after the Pakistani military pressure to resign. In 1997 he was overwhelmingly elected to a second term by a wide margin. During his second term, has expressly ordered the first Pakistan nuclear test in response to Indian nuclear tests. [1] It 'was ousted in October 1999 military coup of Pervez Musharraf. He returned to Pakistan in 2007, at the end of eight years exile. He successfully pressed Musharraf's impeachment and the new Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He is a powerful force in the politics of Pakistan.
